Selena Gomez has been in the eye of the media (and the Internet) all throughout this year – and rightfully so. This pop girl has given us some quality content: first, she served major vibes in “Calm Down” with Rema, then she went on and dropped her bop “Single Soon,” and as if that wasn’t enough, Selena Gomez also slayed in the acting department with “Only Murders in the Building.”
However, despite all of this attention, it seems Selena is truly over social media. Earlier this week, the “Rare” singer expressed she had been affected emotionally by the current situation in the world. With all this social media drama, she threw down some thoughts on her Insta today, saying:
“I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of what’s going on.”
Now, we might not have all the deets on the reason why, but probably she might have received tons of backlash for assuming that position during a time when the Middle East is in conflict. Add Internet trolls and haters to the mix, and voilà! This makes the perfect recipe for mean Internet people to jump into comment sections and tell Selena Gomez hurtful things.
Need proof? Well, it looks like some people hit up their X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts to make fun of what Sel said. They posted memes, gifs and threw some major shade saying things like “Why is she even famous” and even criticized her saying that “she was making a world tragedy about herself.” Take a look:

Selenators (that’s the name of Selena Gomez stans) quickly defended her queen, saying that she can do whatever she wants with her profiles and that it’s her private life! But what’s your take? Let us know in the comments.
