The Barbie effect was one of the most interesting things that happened during the year, as the world was completely painted pink and of course the most popular Halloween costume was Barbie and Ken, so we know well the impact it had for the Mattel brand.
Mattel is the mind behind everything that happened, because the doll belongs to them and with that, much of the money that was generated since the release of the film, not counting the specific line of dolls that were released as promotion of the film and much less the licensing of merchandise, but apparently, the magic is already disappearing.
Mattel’s share price has already fallen compared to the movie’s release dates.
It has been several months since the Barbie movie was released and with that, more movies have come to take over the theaters, even though on Halloween we saw many cowgirls, but apparently, despite the hype that was lived, it would be over for now with Mattel, but we can remember that if the awards season happens, it is very sure that we will see some kind of marketing campaign to generate more sales by the global toy brand.
Mattel has admitted that it is “in a complex macroeconomic environment” and has “notable volatility” issues. Although the stock rallied between July and September from $18 to $22, the month of October has been marked by the stock returning to its pre-release value. Hasbro, too, expects the holiday season to result in a 13% to 15% decline in sales.
What do you think about this? Do you think that profits due to Barbie will increase again in the future? Let’s remember that it has been rumored that Ryan Gosling could have a Ken movie, but this has not been confirmed in any way and are only wishes of the public who loved Margot Robbie’s movie.
