Kpop juggernaut, Jungkook of BTS, has finally dropped his highly anticipated debut studio album, “GOLDEN.” The project came after the Golden Maknae blessed fans with two smash hits, “Seven,” and “3D.” Now, to support the release of the album, Jungkook also dropped the third and main single, “Standing Next To You,” which already driving ARMY (that’s the name BTS and Jungkook fans wear proudly) completely wild!
After the album dropped, some critics wasted no time, and they got their reviews ready like they just came out of the oven. While many people haven’t dived deep into “GOLDEN” to even attempt to write a review for it, it seems some found lots of things to say about Jungkook and his new music. These are the first two major reviews:
On one hand, NME seemed to be totally hyped about the album, giving it 4 out of 5 stars. It complimented Jungkook’s game for his electronic-oriented music, thanks to “Seven,” or “Closer To You.” Yet, the author said that wasn’t even the best part. For them, the most important thing was Jungkook’s skill at “Pop king anthems” such as “3D” and “Yes Or No.” Unfortunately, the review said the record “played it incredibly” safe.
On the other hand, The Guardian had a much more mixed review, and it gave Jungkook 3 stars out of 5. While the author stated that all songs are well done, he criticized how the album sounded too similar to other pop male artists. For example, Justin Timberlake in “3D” or Justin Bieber in “Close To You” and “Too Sad To Dance.” The Guardian closed its review saying “GOLDEN” sounded “decent”, but that there was nothing “original” about it.
There should be some other important reviews on their way, like the ones from Billboard or Rolling Stones, so stay tuned!
