These are the places that inspired the movie Coco

We are in a few days of the Day of the Dead and worldwide is a beautiful celebration where people pay tribute to their deceased relatives and friends, with the intention that they return to visit and help them to reach the light, being one of the most interesting, colorful and fascinating traditions worldwide.

The Day of the Dead was born in Mexico and has had such an impact that it has become popular worldwide, to the extent that there are even international movies that talk about it, the most famous of which is undoubtedly a Disney production called Coco. What many do not know is that the movie is based on real places in Mexico.

These are the places that inspired the movie COCO

The cemetery of San Andrés Mixquic, located in a neighborhood of the Tláhuac district in Mexico City, is one of the most representative places of the Day of the Dead in Mexico. This can be seen in the images where Miguel goes to the chapel where the remains of Ernesto de la Cruz rest.

Miguel manages to cross the barrier of the world of the dead and in the background you can see buildings with a pre-Hispanic structure that resemble the pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico.

The creators of the movie Coco were inspired by the Plaza Del Ropero in Guanajuato, where there is a statue in honor of Jorge Negrete, which is very similar to the one that appears in the movie, but with the figure of Ernesto de la Cruz.

Undoubtedly there are many elements that stand out in the film, it is known that the filmmakers studied Mexico intensely, so that the film would be as close to reality and cause much more impact on the audience, which they achieved, as Coco is now one of the favorite films of many and it is now customary to see it every year on the eve of the Day of the Dead.

What do you think about it? Have you seen the Disney movie called Coco? Did you like it?
