The youngest member of the worldwide sensation BTS, the so called King of Kpop, Jungkook, has finally released his debut solo album, GOLDEN and we already have the lyrics for all the tracks. The album quicks off with the hit single ‘3D’ ft. Jack Harlow as the first track, with a quite sultry and straight forward invitation to intimacy in the lyrics, however, the second track, titled ‘Closer to You’ ft. Major Lazer, pivots the sentiment of the album with very romantic lyrics with a quick nod at toxicity.
So what’s the meaning behind Jungkook’s ‘Closer to You’ ft. Major Lazer?
On the first verse, Jungkook makes a short recap about his relationship with his love interest and how tow they bonded over being there for each other in difficult times. In the second verse he continues describing his feelings and how he’ll never cheat, however, on the bridge, the artist addresses that their relationship is not perfect, points out the multiple splits they have had, but then closes the song clarifying that those problems and differences bring them closer together, how their history still unites them.
With nothing else to explain, here are the official lyrics to the song:
Verse 1
Feeling like I’m floating
Something is in the air tonight
We’re speaking with emotions
Won’t look away
Love me at my lowest
I’ll love you when you’re barely holding on
Lighting up the darkness
I can be a shoulder when you’re not strong
Chorus
Closer
Closer to you
Closer
Closer to you
Verse 2
Take you like my last breath
Took me that’s the first step
Closer with the silk dress
Feeling your warm embrace
Devil always tempting
But who gon’ end the sentence
Wе are not meant to blend in
Blеnded with all your friends
Push and pull to get closer, closer
Bridge
We tried again
Said I wouldn’t lie
But I lied again
Mama told you
“Don’t reply to him”
This ain’t right
Who’s wrong again?
We been tired
Restart again
Negative and the positive
Bringing us
Reprise
Closer
Closer to you
Closer
Closer to you
Closer
Closer to you
Closer
Closer to you
