In his latest appearance on Suga‘s show ‘Suchwita‘, Jungkook revealed which member baptized him as ‘Golden Maknae’, as the nickname apparently has a special meaning, so much so that it seems to have served as an inspiration for his solo album titled ‘GOLDEN’.
As the album is about to make its debut, the idol sets out to explain the story behind the nickname, revealing in detail that RM was the first one from the group to call him this way: “It was Namjoon who started calling me ‘Golden Maknae‘” and since then he hasn’t stopped doing so.

Golden’ in his nickname refers to Junkook’s talent in singing and dancing because RM considers him a complete artist. Also, ‘Maknae’ means the youngest one, and being the youngest of the group, ‘Golden Maknae’ was the perfect name for him as it defines him completely.
Although in the beginning he didn’t give it much importance, with the passing of the years he got used to the name, using it with himself frequently, even alluding to the nickname in the album; however, the word ‘Golden’ also refers to the very successful moment that the idol is going through.
