Selena Gomez has been having a hot streak this year. First, she enjoyed the success of her hit with Rema, “Calm Down,” then she released “Single Soon,” and had a jaw-dropping performance in her series, “Only Murders in the Building.” Despite all of these major moves, it seems Selena wants to keep it on the low for the time being.
The “Wolves” hitmaker recently said she’ll be taking a break from social media. On October 30, the artist expressed she had been affected emotionally by the current situation in the world, especially by all the stuff kids are going through in some countries. She was possibly referring to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Africa. Here’s what she had to say:
“I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world.”
After sharing some of her initial thoughts, she later added “Having a sister, everyday has made me tragically sick. I would do anything for children and innocent lives.” She later apologized to people who did not agree with her taking these actions and said she would like to change the current situation in the world, but affirmed that social media posts won’t do that.
This would not be the first time Selena Gomez shows social media isn’t her favorite place to be. In the past, she’s also been inactive for some time on her Instagram account and even stopped one of her TikTok lives when her fans started sending her money.
Selena Gomez shares statement on Israel and Palestine:
“I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't.” pic.twitter.com/vH8rojpVx9
