Five Nights at Freddy’s dethrones Taylor Swift
The film finished well ahead of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which was released through a direct distribution deal with AMC Theatres and earned $14.7 million in its third weekend for a total of $149.3 million in North America.
According to Comscore estimates, Universal Pictures’ animated horror film grossed $78 million at the box office in its first weekend. Despite the film’s same-day release on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” was successful in ticket sales.
The video game adaptation is now the top opening weekend horror film of 2023, beating “Scream VI’s” domestic score of $44.5 million and “The Nun II’s” worldwide score of $88.1 million. Undoubtedly, the movie has set a trend, and the clips on social networks have boosted ticket sales, making people want to go to the movies to see it.
