Taylor Swift has been widely popular, not only for her incredible talent but for her controversy with Scooter Braun, who sold her masters to the Disney family’s investment firm, Shamrock Holdings, for $405 million. Since then, Taylor has been re-recording her albums in order to own her masters, and every release has become a global phenomenon, and “1989 (Taylor’s version)” wasn’t the exception.
“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” is the fourth re-recording from Swift, released on October 27, 2023. This album was highly anticipated by her fans, better known as the Swifties, because it is Swift’s blueprint in music to the general public and her formal introduction to the pop genre. Taylor has proven once again she runs the world, and Spotify was glad to share this news with the world.
Spotify posted on X, formerly known as “Twitter,” that Taylor Swift broke her own record for the biggest streaming day for any artist in Spotify history. In addition, her latest release, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” became the most-streamed album in a single day in 2023.
These are not the only records the artist has achieved so far with her re-record, she is expected to debut with 1.45-1.55 million copies sold, surpassing the original version, which opened with 1.29 million sold in 2014. This marks Swift’s sixth album to debut north of 1 million copies sold on the Billboard Hot 200.
Undoubtedly, Taylor Swift’s influence in the music industry is admirable, the artist keeps writing history with her re-recordings. Will she surpass her tenth studio album “Midnights” in sold copies this week after the week-chart ends? Only time will tell if Swift has something prepared to boost the sales of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”
