Rarely do we see excellent filmmakers in big budget movies, but when we heard that Taika Waititi would be behind some Marvel movies, the world couldn’t hide its big smile, as the major award winner gave us a production like Thor: Ragnarok that lived up to its mood, then came Love and Thunder and rumors of a new movie became popular.
Despite the public’s requests, the simple fact that there would be a new Thor movie was very much in doubt, but now, apparently a fifth part will indeed come out, but the head of the project will no longer be the talented Taika Waititi.
Thor 5 will not be directed by Taika Waititi
According to Daniel Richtman, Thor 5 is currently in development officially at Marvel Studios, but the movie studio is currently looking for a new director to helm the film.
Taika leaving the Marvel universe is not bad news at all, as the talented director would be focusing on other projects that are already highly anticipated, such as Katsuhiro Ōtomo’s Akira and Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius’ El Incal.
Because Thor 5 has not yet been confirmed, there is no confirmed release date for the Marvel film at this time. Currently, Thor 5 is not on the MCU’s Phase 5 or 6 slate, but there are several projects slated for 2025 and 2026 that are still untitled, so it is expected to be one of them.
Recall that Taika Waititi recently touched on the topic of what should happen with Thor, getting the audience excited:
What’s left to do with him? It has to be something that gives a sense of continuing his evolution, but in a fun way and still giving him things to deal with? I don’t think we can (make it.) ) with a weaker villain than Hela. I think we need to raise the fence and add a bigger villain.
What do you think about it? Will you see the new film even if it’s not by Taika Waititi?
