The late Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has again shown that even after her death, she remains an important and significant part of British royalty with the emergence of a moving letter written by the former monarch.
Shortly after one year of the sad departure of the Queen, who was on the throne for more than 70 years, a legitimate and secret letter written by her has been leaked, which has managed to move many followers of royalty.
This writing was recently auctioned by the Eppli house in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, and it was revealed that it was a letter that was written by the late queen on August 5th, 1954, addressed to Sister Helen Rowe, to whom she referred affectionately as Rowie.
In the letter, the Queen responds to her faithful friend Rowe’s message that she had previously received, apologizing for not having read it earlier and in more detail. Elizabeth also mentions the condition of her son, the current King Charles III, and that of Duke Edward, who was just born.
“Dear Rowie, I am very sorry that I was never able to communicate with you before you left London. Mabel was ill in bed when you wrote, and I confess that I misread your writing because I was in a hurry with other matters and remembered the wrong day you had posted, and when I was out in Arundel, I suddenly remembered your letter, and sadly, it was too late then!
The baby is beautiful—as good as gold—trying to sit up and weighing 15.2 pounds! He smiles and laughs with everyone, and he makes everyone happy! Charles, I am grateful to say, is better but still very fragile. I look forward to seeing you when you return in October“.
These sweet and sincere words from Queen Elizabeth II have moved many. What do you think about them?
