Robert De Niro opens up about being a father after welcoming a new baby at 80

In a recent interview for the British newspaper ‘The Guardian‘, Robert De Niro confessed how he feels about having a new baby at the age of 80. The acclaimed actor revealed in May that his current partner, Tiffany Chen, had given birth to a girl, this being his seventh child.

‘The Godfather’s interpreter commented that “there is nothing easier” and that he is enjoying this moment in his life; “I’m there, supporting my girlfriend. But it’s certainly her who does the work, and we also have help, which is very important“. He also said that dealing with each child is different.

It is clear that he cannot speak to all his children in the same way, since the age difference between them is quite large. Her daughter Drena is the oldest and is 51 years old, more than half a century apart from her most recent daughter. “My treatment with the baby is different from that of my 11-year-old son or my adult children”.

Her current partner, martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen, said during an interview for CBS’ This Morning how complicated her birth was, where she was diagnosed with ‘Bell’s palsy’, also known as ‘idiopathic peripheral facial paralysis’, after losing all facial functions during childbirth.

“My tongue felt strange, tingly, and without sensitivity“, Chen said when she was asked about the symptoms and how she realized it. She also tried to explain the sensation she felt at the time of giving birth: “It’s like she’s falling apart“. Fortunately, her daughter was born completely healthy.
