Marshmello has gained recognition because of his amazing contribution to the Dance/Electronic genre. His songs have quickly become clearly referents to the music, and he is about to trespass the language barrier with his upcoming album, which is set to become his first Latin Album.
The Chart-topping DJ, songwriter, and producer had a convo with Billboard in order to dive into Latin Music, his process of creating his first Latin Album, “Sugar Papi” and working with several Latin artists.
As the conversation starts, the interviewer, Lyndsey Havens asked him when the idea of “Sugar Papi” came out which he confidently responded:
“I’ve always been eager to kind of make a body of work. I wasn’t sure when the right time was. Sony Latin reached out to me and was like, “Hey, would you like to do a Latin album?” And I’d always wanted to tap into Latin music and it just seemed like a perfect time to first knock out the album that I’ve always wanted to do and Latin and everybody was so cool and so nice. It was a no-brainer.”
In addition, he was asked about what kind of conversation he had with Sony Latin in order to produce and release his upcoming album.
“I wasn’t just gonna go and make this like, huge, every biggest artist in the world on a Latin album, like, I’m just gonna work with artists that I vibe with, and that I just like, genuinely like their music, you know? And so I think, like, you’ll see, like, on the tracklist and who I worked with, you’d be like, OK, like, just, like, a good vibe.”
Marshmello’s first Latin album, “Sugar Papi” is set to include 10 tracks after he announced it when he was named the Crossover Artist of the Year at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Young Miko, Paulo Londra, Manuel Turizo, and Farruko are some of the artists to be included in this phenomenal album.
