Martin Scorsese opened up as “Killer of the Flower Moon” premieres on Cinemas

Martin Scorsese is greatly known because of his timeless classics such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Wolf of Wall Street, the director is still delivering quality content, and it shows after “Killer of the Flower Moon” premiered on October 20.

Scorsese had a Q&A hosted by Edgar Wright from NME to talk about his latest movie which already made history by reuniting, Rober De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio on screen. “It was very sweet to see the two of them work together.”

In addition, the director revealed why he started working on “Killer of the Flower Moon” before the COVID-19 pandemic after receiving a Grann’s book.

“For some reason, the story stuck with me and I think a lot of it had to do with the nature of the system that was created in Oklahoma at that time. And still, to a certain extent is. What I mean by the system is how, ultimately, the indigenous people, by sheer fortune, became the richest people in the world. And at which point, they were totally controlled. And they were completely in a way swindled out of their money as much as possible by whites in every capacity.”

After discussing where he was going to film the production, he decided to make it in Oklahoma where the events took place, he confessed he is an urban person, and he started questioning where he was going to even aim the camera and this story needed to be told.

I think I had to go through everything in order to learn and I think a lot of it has to do with the initial enthusiasm for the moving image and exploring every aspect of it through camera movement cuts, long takes, that sort of thing.”

Martin Scorsese culminated this amazing little convo by highlighting what he learned about filming this movie and embarking himself into the culture and the little details in order to recreate the story. “When we learn about these cultures, we learn more about ourselves.” Undoubtedly, Scorsese has consecrated him as part of the movie’s director references because of his hard work throughout the years.
