You won’t be able to dress up as Barbie this Halloween! Actors’ union asks for support

Many times we don’t seriously worry about the problems we see on the outside until we are involved in a closer way and now, just a few days before Halloween, the actors’ union has asked for some support.

Every year hundreds of thousands of people dress up as their favorite characters: Wonder Woman, Scooby Doo or any character that is in fashion, but they are all characters that have been brought to life by some actor and now they are asking for support. Don’t dress up as a famous character!

The actors’ union has been on strike for more than 4 months. They started on the side of the screenwriters who at this point have already reached an agreement with the studios and have returned to work, but apparently, the actors’ strike has no early date of reaching an agreement, so the members of the actors’ union have made a requirement that would undoubtedly make history.

According to Variety, the union issued several instructions so that those who want to follow the holiday tradition can do so and at the same time show solidarity with the movement. Thus, they ask that none of their members wear costumes that reference well-known characters in the industry.

“Dress as characters with non-confrontational content, such as from an animated show,” they ask.

“Choose costumes inspired by generalized characters and figures (ghosts, zombies, spiders, and so on),” SAG-AFTRA recommended in a posting on its website.

Undoubtedly, this would be an intense blow, since thousands of dollars are produced each year in costumes and licensing uses, which would not only affect the production companies with their merchandise, but also all the companies that have licenses for the characters, since their sales could drop considerably.
