George Clooney offers $150 million to end actors’ strike

The world of Hollywood is experiencing a crisis that was not expected, and is that the strikes do not seem to come to an end, as they have not had a good approach that makes both sides agree.

Although the screenwriters managed to close an agreement, the actors deny further negotiations as it seems that the strategies that the studios were using were aggressive and did not see any benefit to the actors, so they have demanded even more.

The strikes have made the actors unable to work, so that many producers that were already scheduled to premiere have had to stop abruptly, causing even famous titles to have to wait and with no apparent return date until an agreement is reached between the union and the studios.

George Clooney and other major Hollywood stars have offered $150 million to the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA. Clooney’s spokesman confirmed that his proposal would increase the union’s revenue by $150 million over three years and could help fund improvements in health benefits.

“Many top earners want to be part of the solution,” Clooney told Hollywood publication Deadline. “We think it’s only fair that we pay more to the union.”

“We’ve offered to take the cap off dues, which would bring in more than $50 million to the union annually. More than $150 million over the next three years. We think that’s fair for us to pay more to the union. We are also suggesting a bottom-up residual structure, i.e., the top of the call sheet. It would be the last to pick up the residuals, not the first. These negotiations will continue to be ongoing, but we wanted to show that we are all in this together and find ways to help close the gap in terms of the players getting paid.”
