Pop queen Taylor Swift has been making major moves this year – and rightfully so. She’s 100% aware her iconic music catalog deserves an S-Class show, and that’s exactly what she’s delivered ever since kicking off the colossal “Eras Tour” earlier this year.
But that’s not all, Tay-Tay also decided to jump right into cinematic stardom with the premiere of her own concert tour, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” in movie theaters all over the globe. This film will have every Swiftie bopping their heads as they enjoy every Taylor Swift musical era on the big screen.
And make no mistake, just like the Stadium Tour, Taylor’s movie points out to be the hottest thing at the box office. “The Eras Tour” movie is on track to bag a cool $100 million in its opening week, according to early tea spilled by AMC Theatres and The Hollywood Reporter.
Now check these facts: the film premiered yesterday, Friday, October 13, and it scooped up a juicy $39 million, which puts Taylor in the same league as “Spider-Man: No Way Home” or “Joker,” which grossed similar amounts on their opening days. And that’s not all! “The Exorcist: Believers” had to be pushed forward to October 6, to completely avoid clashing with our pop queen.
As if this wasn’t enough, Taylor might even be able to snatch the title for the highest-earning modern music concert film ever. Currently, Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” movie, which dropped in 2011, was able to score 73 million dollars back then. So, it might be just a matter of time before the “Look What You Made Me Do” hitmaker gets this record as well!
Upon its release, the movie received critical acclaim – and we’re literally not surprised. This masterpiece of a show totally deserves a space to be enjoyed in cinemas, as it is the perfect combo of talent with storytelling and technological production. Don’t believe us? Then believe Shawn Levy, a major movie director who compared Taylor to Steven Spielberg.
At the moment, Taylor is currently in a kind of “break,” from touring. Her current tour will start engines again on November 9, when our pop queen will be stepping on Argentinian grounds to bless Latin American fans with her show.
