Rapper Megan Thee Stallion spilled some real hot tea about her previous label and the way she’s going to handle her music. Spoiler alert: everything going to be on her own now!
The global superstar has not been quiet at all this year. In case you didn’t know, she joined forces with fellow rapper Cardi B for the late summer hit, “Bongos,” which had a steamy music video and a jaw-dropping performance at the VMAs 2023.
But now, it’s time to step aside from collaborations. Megan Thee Stallion has officially announced she’s going to kick off her next music era with some juicy comments about her future drops and a definitive departure from her previous label. It looks like everything she does from now on is going to be funded with her own cash!
The facts
Megan The Stallion was signed to 1501 Certified Entertainment for more than two years. Quickly after that, a lawsuit drama started when the “Savage” rapper said her former label made her sign an “unconscionable” agreement in 2018. Since then, our queen has been going back and forth with 1501 to pay for damages.
The future and the present for Megan Thee Stallion
Despite the drama surrounding her former label, our “Sweetest Pie” hitmaker is not one to give up. Yesterday, October 12 she took Instagram live to talk about the future moves she’ll be making for her career. Plot twist! Megan is officially independent, and she’s going to pay for everything this time.
“I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my momma. I’m so excited cause it’s really just me… I don’t wanna sign to a new label right now cause I just wanna do it myself.”
