Madonna, the definitive Queen of Pop has a mission: it might look cringe or peculiar for some, but it looks like she hasn’t been coping with her excommunication from the Catholic Church in recent years, and she’s spilled the tea about wanting to meet Pope Francis to talk things through in the past!
Now, we all know that Madonna, the queen that she is, has a legendary status in the world of music. Yet, behind all the decades of hits and iconic performances, there’s one little thing that’s escaped from her hands: the Catholic religion.
Wonder why? Well, the Vatican has cataloged Madonna as “persona non grata” (which basically means they don’t want her over there. Oh well, their loss!). The hate has even gone so far to the point where she has even been excommunicated not one, but THREE times since she rose to stardom.
But let’s face it: our queen was too ahead of her time, and that’s what provoked this horrendous backlash. We’re sure previous popes had their reasons, and here’s the tea: Madonna simulated a crucifixion in her “Confessions World Tour” in 2006, and even earlier in her career (1990) she touched her cookie while performing for the Blonde Ambition World Tour.
But Madonna is persistent and, in a bid to catch the Vatican’s attention, the now 65-year-old pop diva posed with a black hoodie that had an image of Pope Francy printed on it, courtesy of designers Abel Cepeda Ljoka and Will Kowall. But this is not her latest attempt! Last year she took Twitter (now X) to tell His Holyness she wanted to have a little chat with him:
