After the huge success of One Piece’s live-action, Spy x Family seems to want to follow the same steps. It comes as no surprise because fans keep asking studios to adapt the shows into real-life series, just like Netflix did with Luffy and its pirate crew. Now that the “history of failure” for anime live-action versions has been broken, the timing could be perfect!
Spy x Family first dropped in 2022 and was a total smash. The comedy and action-packed show has caught the attention of both fans and entertainment industry workers, especially now, as it’s next season is premiering tomorrow, October 6.
One of the people who seem to have the series under his radar is Steven Maeda, One Piece’s live-action show runner. He was interviewed by Comic Book and the media outlet took the ocassion to ask him about series or shows he’d like to bring to real life. As a reponse, Steven admitted he is currently hooked on Spy x Family, and added:
It’s funny you mentioned that one. I’ve been chasing Spy Family for a while. I think there are so many wonderful stories. It just has been, I think, difficult getting the crossover. There are so many great manga and anime titles out there that tell these wonderful stories, and they just haven’t been tapped yet.
This comment alone has sent Spy x Family fans into hype mode. Can you imagine having both the animated series as well as a potential live-action? Nothing’s been officially confirmed so far, but let’s be real: the popularity Spy x Family has might prove to be a chance for it to be adapted.
