Elon Musk faces copyright infringement lawsuit over new Twitter name

Businessman Elon Musk is facing a lawsuit in which he is accused of copyright infringement due to the new name he gave to the Twitter social network a few months ago and which caused controversy on social networks.

In October 2022, the South African bought the famous social network for a value of 44 billion dollars, later, in July of this year, he changed its name to ‘X‘, as well as its image, completely altering the history of the famous platform.

In recent days, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the company of the renowned magnate X Corp. is being sued by an advertising agency called X Social Media for copyright infringement.

For its part, the advertising company also reported that Twitter’s new name caused these companies to be confused, harming them to the point of having economic losses. The lawyer in charge also accuses Musk of actions comparable to those carried out by the plaintiff.

The consequence that Elon Musk’s social media platform could present in the position of losing the case would be to put a stop to its activities of marketing, offering, selling or distributing the services of his brand, in this case ‘X’, in addition of compensation that is equivalent to the value of three times the losses or gains of the accused.

On the other hand, the businessman also faces another lawsuit but from his ex-partner, the singer Grimes, with whom he shares 3 children, and they are the reason for this legal action that the artist has imposed to establish ‘a paternal relationship‘, a first step to ask the billionaire for custody or support agreement.

What do you think of this new lawsuit that technology magnate Elon Musk faces with his most recent acquisition ‘X’?
