Mattel‘s character, Barney, is one of those that most shaped childhoods among many adults of this time, so the executives have decided to launch their own movie, news that did not cause as much excitement as many believed.
So now, the CEO of the toy company, Ynon Kreiz, shared in a recent interview his opinions on what viewers can expect from this project and assuring this won’t be a strange production:
“It’s too early to be specific, but I can tell you that we are taking a new approach that will be fun, entertaining and culturally oriented. It won’t be a strange movie“, Kreiz said.
This could be contradicting previous statements by Mattel Films executive Kevin McKeon, who in conversations with The New Yorker said: “We’re leaning into the millennial angst of the property instead of adjusting this for kids“.
“It’s really an adult play. Not that it’s rated R, but it will focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being in your thirties and growing up with Barney: just the level of disenchantment within the generation“, McKeon added. .
On the other hand, the participation of renowned actor Daniel Kaluuya in the film is one of the few details that have come to light about this project, however it is expected that now that the Hollywood strike has ended, more information will soon be revealed.
Mattel CEO Ynon Kriez calls Daniel Kaluuya’s ‘BARNEY’ movie “fun, entertaining and culturally oriented.”
“It will not be an odd movie.”
