After more than 4 months, we are finally getting news of the strike that hit the Hollywood industry, as actors and screenwriters went on strike demanding better rights from the big production companies.
The strike started with the screenwriters of the studios and then the actors joined, demanding different benefits for the industry and now, apparently, the screenwriters are ending their strike and could return to work with better conditions.
U.S. screenwriters’ union and Hollywood studios reach an agreement that ends the strike.
A few days ago, an important agreement in principle was reached between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Hollywood movie studios, which could put an end to a months-long strike that has completely affected the entertainment industry.
“We reached a tentative agreement, meaning an agreement in principle on all points of the deal, subject to final contractual language. We can say, with great pride, that this agreement is exceptional, with significant gains and protections for screenwriters in all sectors,” states a letter from the guild, which does not give details of the settlement.
With the good news for screenwriters, it would mean that the studios are willing to negotiate, so it is likely that the actors’ strike will also soon come to some kind of resolution. Recall that due to the strikes many of the films have had to be released, causing the studios to lose large amounts of money.
What do you think about it? Do you think the actors’ strike will also be resolved quickly or will there have to be more negotiations?
