Among the great Disney cinematic classics, there is a dark production that, despite being a failure at the time, could currently be a success in its live action version.
This is the film titled ‘The Magic Cauldron‘ directed by Ted Berman and Richard Rich, based on the books ‘The Chronicles of Prydain‘ by Lloyd Alexander, released in 1985 and which shows a darker side of the famous production company.
This production tells the life of Taron, an aspiring warrior, joins a group of brave friends in order to protect the magical cauldron from falling into the wrong hands, particularly those of King Horned, who is capable of creating an army of invincible supernatural warriors for malicious purposes.
Although this dark tone and the sinister premise of the film may have contributed to its failure at the box office, which grossed 21.3 million USD when its budget was 44 million USD, it is believed that currently this production would be a candidate for a live-action.
This is because it has been shown in the recent releases of the film company that they are willing to remake these types of stories, in addition to the fact that viewers are also willing to give them a good reception.
Among the most recent examples are ‘Hocus Pocus 2‘, which is about three witches who hunt children, and the remake of ‘Haunted Mansion‘, which has more terrifying images than the first installment. So taking these movies and others like ‘Maleficent‘ and ‘Cruella‘ into account, it wouldn’t be very strange to see a live-action of ‘The Magic Cauldron’.
