That’s right! BLACKPINK’s member, superstar Lisa, just beat BTS and their seven members by getting herself a streaming record on Spotify. Unsurprisingly, the Thai hitmaker has had her fans, also known as BLINKS, and the general public bopping to the song that broke the record. This just screams how much of a power player Lisa is in today’s music game!
So, get this: today, Spotify spilled the tea about the fact that Lisa has mande an epic record with her global smash hit “MONEY.” It turns out that the main dancer and rapper of BLACKPINK is now the first Kpop solo artist track to hit a billion streams on Spotify, and just like that, our BLACKPINK queen tops the charts once more.
Initially, “MONEY” popped out as a B-side track from her solo single “Lalisa.” The trap and R&B-influenced song wasn’t even meant to be the star of the show. Still, it looks like MONEY is now the hottest kpop jam made by a solo artist in the last few years. In a similar way, the MONEY MV is also close to crashing the billion-view party on YouTube, which demonstrates Lisa’s reign as the Kpop solo act of the moment.
Fun fact: not even a single BTS boy has even been able to get one of their songs hitting the same numbers Lisa has smashed. Rumor has it, Jungkook could join the record-breaking title on Spotify with his banger “Seven” featuring rapper Latto, but only time will tell if any of the BTS folks will be able to grab this record.
On a side note, there is still no confirmation about Lisa re-signing her contract with her agency, YG Entertainment. It looks like BLACKPINk magic has been put a stop at the moment, with none of the members confirming their status in the company. Will our Kpop superstar stay with her girl gang or is she ready to chase new adventures by herself?
