NewJeans have certainly slayed this year and sure have a place on everyone’s Kpop playlist. The group has been on an undeniable hot streak since the release of their 2nd EP, “Get Up.” The main single to spawn from the record, “Super Shy” has gone on to smash global charts and now the girls will be back with another bop for a video game championship!
We are talking about the League of Legends Worlds 2023. For context, League of Legends is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) video game, in which players have to battle 5 vs. 5 to bring down their opponents. At this point, the game is so huge, that they could only pair up this level of coolness by having NewJeans doing their official anthem.
The track is going to be officially dropped on October 3 at 10 p.m. (Pacific Time) for the West and on October 4 at 2 p.m. for South Korea. Also, the League of Legends’ social media accounts have already posted a snippet of the song, and NewJeans fans (known as Bunnies) are totally here for it!
The track is going to be titled “GODS” (yes, with capital letters!) and a 14-second try of what the song is going to sound like is already out. The snippet, which already has all fans shook, shows a switch-up from NewJeans usual sound.
This new track has a really dramatic and kind of big feeling to it (at least from the initial impression in the teaser), which totally contrasts with the more chill and dreamy vibe NewJeans is sort of known for, and we’re here for it!
Anyway, we are seated for the “Super Shy” idols to give us yet another bop to listen to this season. Stay tuned for more updates about these Kpop queens.
