Global Kpop group, XG, debuted last year with their song “Tippy Toes.” After dropping that early bop, the group kind of went underappreciated, with some Internet users saying their sound was too basic and even going on to shade them for being an all-Japanese girl band promoting in South Korea.
Fortunately, things have changed for XG, who have proved all their nonsense haters wrong with their latest bops. Their songs contain a mix of R&B, hip-hop, pop, and Kpop influences and they are never shy to let that show through their dazzling and sharp performances.
This Japanese septet is composed of members Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona. They mostly sing in English, but they do not really describe their music as Kpop or Jpop completely. About the vibes and style they say their music has, member Chisa said:
“I would describe XG’s sound as a mixture inspired by R&B and hip-hop, but we also have a lot of original flavors included in there as well. The letter X represents that unknown nature,” she told Apple Music.
Now if you really want to understand what that X factor the girl group is talking about, then their debut EP is gonna be the perfect way for you to start stanning these talented girls. The mini-album is titled “NEW DNA” and has already spawned bops like “GIRL GVNG,” “TGIF,” “NEW DANCE” and most recently “PUPPET SHOW,” which just dropped today.
Hope you bop to the anthems made by XG, which are all in their EP that was released today, September 27. It is available for streaming on all music platforms but you can also grab one of the two physical versions, in case you are more of the collectibles type.
