With the proximity of the second installment of ‘Aquaman‘ of the DC cinematic universe, director James Wan made a surprising revelation about some scenes from this film, sharing that they were taken from a production that was cancelled years ago.

Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom‘ has been a controversial topic of discussion since the beginning of its filming, and currently this has not changed as many have shared their hopes that this production will change the course of DC to a more successful one, after the failures it has experienced with ‘The Flash‘, ‘Blue Beetle‘ and other releases this year.

In this second installment of the Ruler of all oceans, the long-awaited and acclaimed appearance of the villain Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, will arrive, which has excited many fans of the franchise as he is one of the most popular characters in the saga.

This character even almost had a spin-off focused on him, however in 2021 it was discarded because it would supposedly have taken the spotlight away from the Aquaman movies, played by Jason Momoa, however not everything was discarded.

In a recent interview, Aquaman director James Wan shared the great importance of this villain character in Arthur Curry’s films, and revealed that when his spin-off was cancelled, he had taken several details or elements that had been recorded to include them in the new installment.

Me and my team were working on a film about the Black Manta, this being a independent installment of the archenemy of the king of the seas. But it didn’t happen, and some of these ideas found their way into this second installment“, said James Wan.

By sharing these details, many fans of the franchise and of this supervillain have shown their excitement to see this new installment where they will see Black Manta avenge his father by fighting against Aquaman.
