Deadpool is one of the greatest franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) because of its reckless plot and funny scenes. Since it was reported that Deadpool 3 was already in the filming phase, the fans couldn’t help but express their excitement on social media, however, Deadpool’s director is not as excited as the fans for this third installment.
Deadpool’s director, Shawn Levy sat down with Total Film where he stated that despite added challenges, he is completely committed to shooting Deadpool 3 on real locations rather than green screens.
“I made a decision very early in prep that even though Deadpool is now in the MCU, I didn’t want another Marvel movie shot on a green screen stage with digital set extensions.“
In addition, Levy stated this is the correct way of honoring Fox, since he felt the pressure of pairing two iconic characters such as Deadpool and Wolverine.
“Deadpool and Wolverine are iconic Marvel characters. More specifically, iconic Marvel-of-the-Fox-era characters. We’re not going to pretend: ‘Oh, we snap our fingers, and suddenly that Fox legacy doesn’t exist, and it shaped a lot of what we now know as the MCU.
Shawn Levy is aware of the upcoming challenges of avoiding green screens and at the same time criticizes Marvel Studios’ formula for using excessive CGI. Deadpool 3 promises to be one of the greatest installments in the Deadpool universe, as we are going to have a great pairing of characters.
