The next edition of Miss Universe 2023 will present some changes that evidence its inclusion in the renowned beauty pageant. Among these, the first ‘overweight‘ or plus size candidate, Jane Dipika Garrett Miss Nepal 2023, has been announced.
On September 9th, Jane Dipika Garrett emerged victorious from the Miss Nepal 2023 pageant, which will lead her to represent her country in the next edition of Miss Universe 2023, surprising the media and social networks by being the first candidate plus size of this event.
For her part, this 22-year-old beauty queen has declared in some interviews that she is very proud and happy with her body. Additionally, through social networks she seeks to destroy these stereotypes by helping women live a life free of prejudice and insecurities.
“As a curvy woman who doesn’t meet certain beauty standards, I’m here to represent women who struggle with weight gain, and who struggle with hormonal issues. I believe there is no one standard type of beauty, and every woman is beautiful just the way she is“, Jane said at the recent pageant.
By becoming Miss Nepal 2023, Jane will attend the next Miss Universe 2023 pageant, which will take place on November 18th of this year in El Salvador, where a successor to the current Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States will be chosen.
For its part, the most famous beauty pageant in the world has been involved in many controversies in recent years, after accusations of fraud in the last edition, accusations of abuse in Miss Indonesia and the millionaire debts of the owner of the pageant, Anne Jakrajutatip.
