The world saw BLACKPINK and one of its members, Lisa, debut back in 2016 with the songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Since then, the Kpop quartet has gone to become one of the most prominent and successful girl bands of all time, selling millions of albums worldwide and launching incredible global tours.

With 8 years into their debut, it has been reported that Lisa’s contract with her agency, YG Entertainment, might be coming to an end. According to media outlet Star News, the BLACKPINK rapper could have rejected two offers YG made for her to remain in the label:

“There is also a rumor stating that Lisa already rejected YG’s first offer and recently rejected a second offer. The size of the contract is rumored to be worth ₩50.0 billion KRW (about $37.7 million USD).”

This comes as no surprise, since Kpop groups usually remain active for seven to eight years, and members of these bands start changing their career plans (and agencies) when their contracts are about to expire. This would be the case for all BLACKPINK members Lisa, Rosé, Jennie and Jisoo, who are all currently about to culminate their contracts with YG Entertainment.

It has also been stated that the Thai idol has received several offers from labels outside South Korea, and some of these potential new contracts are worth more than YG’s offers:

“There have been rumors claiming Lisa has received offers from labels overseas, including Thailand, worth tens of millions of dollars.”

These speculations are yet to be confirmed by Lisa herself or her agency. At the moment, BLACKPINK’s future remains uncertain, and the only thing fans know at the moment is that the Kpop group is about to conclude its “Born Pink World Tour” in South Korea later this year.
