Disney+ removes content from its streaming platforms after losing with the latest Marvel releases

In recent days it was reported that Disney+ had begun to remove content from its catalog after the million-dollar losses it suffered with the latest Marvel releases, which showed that even the big platforms have complicated situations in which they must reduce “unnecessary” expenses.

Despite the fact that cutting budgets on projects that are being carried out, canceling productions that are still on paper and removing content from the platform are things that large companies do not usually do, they have had to start doing so.

The reason behind these extreme adjustments are the protests of actors and scriptwriters in Hollywood and the general paralysis that has caused and has affected the entire industry and future productions that the public expected to enjoy soon.

According to reports from the Deadline media, Disney decided to eliminate two series that had not yet been released on the platform, these are the titled ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles‘ a fantasy story from 2008 and ‘Nautilus‘ an adventure drama that would be released this August of 2023, but it was cancelled.

For their part, industry experts have confirmed the desperation currently felt by the executives behind these large streaming platforms because there have not been many successes in recent times.

In addition, Disney’s financial director, Christine McCarthy, revealed that the company was going through difficult times managing capital in Marvel projects, so it is believed that by deciding to eliminate the content, the company seeks to organize its budgets for future productions.
