HBO cancels “The Idol” starring Jennie from BLACKPINK
Despite having a successful premiere in Cannes, the series The Idol was not what people thought it would be, being very badly criticized and questioning directly to the festival the quality of productions that would be happening, as many people claim that now is a festival that is only relevant for celebrities but has already lost credibility of quality, being only a place for modeling, being the case of The Idol.
When people found out that a series starring The Weekend would arrive, expectations increased dramatically, but once it premiered through HBO, bad comments rained down indicating the dissatisfaction of the public and it has been so much rejection that after only one season, it has ended and will have no more, leaving aside presences such as Jennie from Blackpink, who has a role in this series.
The series that premiered last June 5, marked the debut as an actress of the model and singer Jennie of the renowned group BLACKPINK, making all her fans were excited about this new challenge facing the Idol, however, despite having a good cast and a supposedly good story, “The Idol” could never get on track to be one of the great successes of the moment, because many pointed out its content as disturbing.
“The Idol has been one of HBO’s most original and sensual shows, and we are very proud of the positive response from our viewers. However, after a long deliberation, we, along with the crew, decided to cut the series short and not create a second season. We thank the entire cast and crew for putting on a great show during the five episodes,” was the statement made by one of HBO’s spokespersons recently.
