The movie that took 50 years to make is available on Netflix

This is the film that took 50 years to produce and received high praise from critics. This cinematographic work, belonging to one of the most renowned film directors in history, is currently available on Netflix.

Among the most important and renowned directors in the history of cinema stands out the filmmaker Orson Welles, who, besides dedicating himself to different arts of entertainment, directed the cataloged cultural landmark entitled ‘Citizen Kane‘, which is considered by many as one of the greatest works in the history of cinema.

However, in addition to this project, there was another by the well-known director that was also highly acclaimed and commented on. It is about the movie ‘The Other Side of the Wind‘, because it took almost 50 years to be made, even after the filmmaker’s death.

It was in the early 1970s when the American began working on this production that was presented as a critique of the film industry, presenting a film-within-a-film dynamic, as well as self-referential aspects such as the main character, a film director of old age.

However, despite his previous great works, financing his latest production was not easy, so it took him six years to film it. The project was then held back by financial complications at the time of Welles’s death in 1985, as well as only having 40 minutes of edited footage.

Later, in order to rescue the legacy of the famous director, Netflix took care of recovering the film and used the footage already filmed, in addition to adding new images, and thus released ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ in 2018 on its streaming platform.

The production that is currently available on Netflix, garnered critical acclaim and was well received commercially, despite the time it took to make and release to the public, however this helped to capture the attention of many users of the platform.
