YouTube has always tried to stay relevant during the streaming era and has found its way to being on top of daily streaming services. Thanks to this, YouTube announced the launch of an AI music generator which received mixed reviews from the Tech and entertainment industry.
AI has become the center of attention from numerous industries around the world because they are part of our daily lives now. However, it still has some challenges to face because of its controversial mishaps. The music industry has always shown its discontent because AI is taking a great portion of the essence of music as people regularly know it.
YouTube is set to release “AI Music Incubator” which is going to generate music from the Universal Music catalog, The label is going to be the co-author of this ambitious project and AI is going to become the protagonist of the music.
“YouTube’s AI Music Incubator is a program that will bring together some of today’s most innovative artists, songwriters, and producers to help inform YouTube’s approach to generative AI in music. The incubator will kick off with a genre-spanning cohort of creatives from Universal Music Group that includes Anitta, Björn Ulvaeus, d4vd, Don Was, Juanes, Louis Bell, Max Richter, Rodney Jerkins, Rosanne Cash, Ryan Tedder, Yo Gotti, and the Estate of Frank Sinatra, amongst others.”
This project might be one of the most ambitious from YouTube and Universal Music. However, it has received numerous critics from artists who stated music should be created from a human perspective and not only through AI. Particularly the fear of being replaced by an AI in the music industry is the main reason.
