Blue Beetle flops in the worldwide box office as DC sinks deeper into millionaire losses

The box office debut of the Blue Beetle movie, one of the most awaited superheroes movies of the year, has been quite disappointing. Although it managed to secure the bag with the number one spot in this weekend’s Box Office in the United States, its earnings are very low considering the massive budget it required, thus why it’s being predicted to be yet another loss for the DC franchise.

The new DC movie debuted with only $43 million worldwide, against a budget that exceeded $104 million dollars.

The superhero genre continues to disappoint the audience. It seems that the consumption and the demand of these type movies is declining after the massive peak the genre had with Marvel’s Avengers franchise. Signs indicate that people might be oversaturated with so many superhero films and productions, which eventually led to the fall of the genre.

DC Comics continues to extend its losing streak after the massive box office failure of their latest releases, with The Flash being crowned as the biggest flop of the production house. Experts forecast that the upcoming releases from DC will also have bad, or modest figures at best.

Blue Beetle has managed to surpass Barbie at the global box office, but that’s not that big of an achievement considering that the Mattel movie is on its fifth weekend. The toy film had been reigning at the number one spot for a month but has dropped to the second position following its overwhelming success, with an impressive gross of over $1.2 billion dollars at the box office.

Blue Beetle remains one of the lowest debuts in the superhero genre in 2023, and it’s already predicted to generate a millionaire loss, some even go as far as calling it the last superhero movie, and that it marks the death of the genre, for a while.
