Barbie now has an official date for its premiere on streaming platforms
Barbie fever is here to stay and now people will be able to have it at home since it has been given a possible release date for digital platforms, giving many people the opportunity to see this movie that has caused a stir in the entertainment world.
Barbie has been a global success as it has raised more than 1 billion dollars making the company Matel decide to make more movies inspired by the iconic toys and now after weeks of release in theaters the film will soon arrive to streaming platforms to watch it in the comfort of home.
As revealed by the American magazine Variety, the streaming premiere of Barbie has been set for September 5. It should be noted that this release is about the digital release of the film for purchase or rental, but not the date on which it will be available on HBO Max, the platform where it will be released on demand.
The fact that it is on demand means that it will not be available for free under subscription on different platforms, since it will be available digitally, but it would have to be purchased separately.
During a recent meeting, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav confirmed that Barbie will remain in theaters around the world for a while longer, in order to collect as much as possible before arriving on the video on demand service and finally on the streaming platform in the fall of this year, specifically in October.
“We really believe in the cinema exhibition window. Let the film exhaust this window, play with it, build the brand, and then go to video on demand. Let it move between these economic windows that have always worked and we think work extremely well. And then we put it into Max. And when it goes to Max, we think it will have a very good impact. It will be in the fall.”
