Miss Universe Indonesia is under investigation for alleged abuse towards the pageant’s contestants

The Miss Universe pageant is in the eye of the media after it was reported that several complaints were made from many Miss Universe Indonesia candidates to the police department accusing the organizers of sexual abuse. This situation represents the last nail in the coffin for the criticized beauty contest.

Indonesian police are investigating the franchise on the multiple complaints presented to the department in order to get an end to the controversial matter. Yakarta, responsible for the Women’s police department, revealed to Detik that they are investigating every complaint and want to interrogate the alleged victims to open an official case.

One of the lawyers from the contests revealed they were asked to take off their tops for  “body checks” and they were photographed two days before the finals on August,  3. Allegedly, they were to check if they didn’t have scars, tattoos or cellulite on their bodies.

During a little conversation, one of the contestants talked with the press and the local television blurred their faces in the broadcast to protect their identities:

“I feel that my rights have been violated. It has affected me mentally. I have had trouble sleeping”

The controversial matter has gotten the general public’s interest and it might become the ultimate low blow to the Miss Universe organization to step back from broadcasting this year’s event and bring atrocious consequences for abusing the contestants.
