NewJeans has become the first female KPOP group to take the stage at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, one of the biggest music festivals in the United States, the group’s representative agency ADOR said this weekend.
Taking the spotlight on the festival’s opening day at Grand Park in Chicago, Illinois, the KPOP quintet delivered a riveting performance on Thursday (Chicago time), its agency said. NewJeans performed a dynamic 12-song set, delighting the 70,000-plus crowd with an electrifying 45-minute live show.
The group opened their performance with “Hype Boy,” one of their debut songs, and then performed several of their hit songs, including “Cookie,” “Hurt,” “OMG” and “Ditto.” They also performed live six songs from the band’s latest album, “Get Up.” The audience cheered and sang along to every song.
After the show, the band members said they were happy to be able to perform at the Lollapalooza festival and enjoyed the experience. The festival ended over the weekend. On Saturday, South Korean boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) took the stage as the first KPOP group to appear as headliners at the said festival.
Meanwhile, NewJeans will also perform at Summer Sonic, Japan’s biggest annual music festival, on August 19. Undoubtedly Hanni, Hyein, Danielle, Haerin and Minji have been making hits all over the world since they debuted last year. You can see part of the show down below:
