Snow White actress betrays Disney with shocking claims during the actor’s strike

Rachel Zegler, the actress chosen to play Snow White in the Live-Action adaptation of the 1937 animated movie, has had multiple viral moments during the last few weeks due to her opinions on the new version of the iconic Disney princess and what she represents, however, instead of getting praised, she’s been perceived as quite problematic and dislikeable by the public, especially after her last appearance at the SAG AFTRA actors strike in Hollywood.

The 22 year old actress was confirmed to star in the movie along with Gal Gadot and Andrew Burnap, since then, she’s been receiving backlash for her ethnic difference with the original character who was ‘as white as snow’, while she has a white Latina complexion. The discussion around her skin tone seems to be on the unfounded racism side, however, the criticism towards the actress has shifted from being about her Polonian Colombian background and is now focused on her “entitled attitude” and “woke views” on the Disney Princess.

During the initial press tour to promote the movie at the Disney23 Expo, the actress answered a question about her role with some rather polemic opinions about the new version of the iconic cartoon. “It’s no longer 1937, and we absolutely wrote a Snow White that is, she’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love, she’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she could be … if she was fearless, very brave and true” she said, a very different version of the original Snow White, who was rather gentle, passive, and conforming.

Because of the public scrutiny that the young successful actress was put under, detractors of the remake of the movie have also found and criticized her words at the SAG AFTRA actors strike in Hollywood, where the actress followed the spirit of the gathering and demanded a better payment for her work, though her words were met with blatant backlash. Disney offered a very generous payment to the actress, however, she demands to get a better payment, betraying the company.

“If I’m going to stand there, 18 hours in a dress of an iconic Disney princess, I deserve to be paid for every hour that it is streamed online” -Zegler on the distribution of the movie’s revenue, addressing the controversy about the unfairness in the distribution of the online streaming revenue that the strike protests.

The comments about Zegler on social media were plagued with accusations of entitlement and childish behavior, while also threatening to boycott the movie in theaters, when it’s released in 2024.
