On Sunday morning, the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom, the prince William, made a surprise appearance at a food truck that was serving environmentally friendly burgers, all in efforts to make the prince look interested in the good causes for the planet, but instead, he ended up being cancelled online, so what went wrong? Here’s the video.
Some eagle-eyed internet users were curious enough to investigate the whole event and found some misplaced items on the-15 minute video that could be proof that the scene of prince William helping serve the environment friendly burgers was actually staged and designed to boost the prince’s public image. The video was posted to the YouTube account of the food truck.
As it turns out, the truck that was selling the burgers was the winner of the prince’s own initiative, the Earthshot Prize, which was designed to celebrate good causes for the environment. This was not the reason why the prince got a lot of hate comments though.
The backlash came after some users reported on twitter that they noticed that the whole event seemed planned, as they had found a “closed set” sign on the video, as well as a man holding a camera, which led the viewers to discover that the so called Environment friendly burger truck was a farse, and that the “customers” were actually handpicked actors that didn’t “buy” any burgers, but instead, were hired to act surprised and amazed when seeing the prince.
The post that revealed this information was made on Twitter, and has since then gathered around 4 thousand reactions on the platform. The comment section of the video has been crowded with antimonarchist replies. Prince William was a trending topic in the United Kingdom due to the amount of hate comments that were posted including his name.
