“GET UP,” the second extended play album (EP) of KPOP girl group NewJeans, has sold more than 1.65 million copies in its first week of release, according to album sales reports, its representative agency, ADOR, has reported.
According to Hanteo Chart, a leading local album sales tracker, the girl group’s new album sold 1,650,181 copies, from Friday last week to Thursday, which is the second highest first-week sales record for a KPOP girl group.
NewJeans has been setting records dramatically, following their debut album and single released earlier this year, which recorded sales of 310,000 and 700,000 copies, respectively, in their first week.
ADOR explained that the group is gaining more and more fans, as well as an increasingly widespread influence, expressing their desire to achieve a milestone of two million sales for a single album in their upcoming releases. Since their debut, the group has not stopped achieving worldwide success, competing with big names such as BLACKPINK or BTS.
The group composed of Haerin, Hanni, Danielle, Minji and Hyejin will promote the album in the United States by performing at the Lollapalooza music festival on August 3rd in Chicago, and they have already scheduled an extensive schedule in America to increase the sales of “GET UP”.
