George R.R. Martin gives good news about ‘Game of Thrones’ sequel

In the midst of the ravages of the Hollywood writers and actors strike, writer George R.R. Martin, creator of the iconic ‘Game of Thrones‘ series, has given good news about the sequel of the series, which in this case is ‘House of the Dragon‘. The producer has also generated a great relief among the millions of fans of the series, who believed that future projects were going to remain in limbo.

Although the current problems in Hollywood have greatly reduced the productions of movies and series, the writer George R.R. Martin has given great relief to the fans of ‘Game of Thrones’, who believed that the second season of its sequel ‘House of the Dragon’ was going to be completely discarded.

But all is not as thought. Calm has arrived after the confusion generated and there will be a second season of ‘House of the Dragon’, since fortunately, before the beginning of the scriptwriters’ strike, the scripts for the series were already ready.

At the same time, Martin confirmed that the production of the second season is going well. He did so in the most recent broadcast of his Podcast, where he gave more details on the matter:

One of the few programs up to shooting is ‘House of the Dragon’, as you may have read. That’s true. I was told that the second season is half finished. ALL the scripts were finished months before the WGA strike began. Nothing has been written since then, as far as I know. The series is filmed mainly in London (and a bit in Wales, Spain and various other locations), which is why filming has continued“.

The writer went on to explain why production hasn’t stopped despite all the hiccups and culminated with the following:

The actors are members of the British Equity union, not SAG-AFTRA, and although Equity strongly supports their American cousins (they have a big rally planned to show that support), British law prohibits them from holding a solidarity strike. They have no protection against being fired for breach of contract, or even sued. As for me personally, my overall agreement with HBO was suspended on June 1st. I still have a lot to do, of course. In that, I’m one of the lucky ones“.

With this, George R.R. Martin has given ‘Game of Thrones’ fans great news regarding the sequel story with ‘House of the Dragon’ and its second season, which could be available next year.
