World-wide famous model Gigi Hadid, famous in the fashion world for her involvement with prestigious design houses such as Chanel and Versace, and for being the ex-girlfriend of Zayn Malik, recently found herself involved in a marihuana and drug-related legal incident.
A few days ago, while heading to the Cayman Islands with some friends to enjoy a vacation in a tropical destination, Gigi Hadid was arrested and later pleaded guilty to drug possession and drug parahernalia.
The arrest took place when Customs and Border Control agents discovered marijuana and other drug-related items on her luggage after Hadid and her company arrived at the destination on a private jet. Although it was reported that the quantities found were “relatively small and for personal use,” additional material was also found in the bags of other individuals traveling with her.
As a result, both Gigi Hadid and her friends were arrested under suspicion of “importation of ganja and importation of utensils used for its consumption (paraphernalia)“. Thy appeared before a court on July 12th and ultimately pleaded guilty. Each of them got charged a fine of $1000 and were released after paying the bail.
A representative of Gigi Hadid stated to People magazine:
“Gigi was traveling with marijuana legally purchased in New York and had a medical license. Additionally, its medical use has been legal in the Cayman Islands since 2017. After this incident, her legal record remains impeccable, and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
