Colombian singer Shakira made her definitive return to music with the release of a song accompanied by the successful Argentinean producer, Bizarrap, where she took revenge on each of the lyrics of her ex, soccer player Gerard Piqué, but now, Colombian Shakira revealed that her song “Music Session #53” almost didn’t come out.
Music Session #53 was an imminent hit that brought Shakira back to music, being a worldwide hit due to the catchy lyrics and comparisons to a Rolex or a Casio. The lyrics quickly went around the world, so there is no telling what Shakira’s current status would be if the song had not been released.
The 46 year old singer commented to journalist Alejandra Espinoza that some people did not want this song to come out publicly “you are not going to release that song Shakira, what are you thinking, you really have to change those lyrics”. The singer commented that she was not a public official or an employee of the United Nations so she could not release the song.
She also commented that she is an artist and had to express herself through art and that was exactly what she was doing, “I had to express what I felt, express my emotions, I have no other way to do it than through art, and that freedom of expression is not negotiable with anyone or anything”.
