‘House of the Dragon’, the prequel series to the cultural phenomenon of ‘Game of Thrones’, was one of the most popular shows of 2022 and it was immediately met with critical acclaim from both critics and fans. However, the show was completely snubbed in the acting categories at the 2023 Emmys and this caught everyone by surprise.

Although it was nominated for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ at the Emmys, fans of this universe were surprised after it was revealed that ‘House of Dragon’ was completely snubbed as no one in the cast was nominated in the acting categories. Previously, the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ was able to score several acting nominations.

During its run, ‘Game of Thrones’ received 164 Primetime Emmy nominations, many of them for acting, and went on to win 59. As a result, the general public and experts of the industry were expecting ‘House of the Dragon’ to have the same level of acclaim but unfortunately most of the nominations went to other series such as ‘Succession’, ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘The White Lotus.’

After the nominations were revealed, fans of the show expressed their discontent on social media and let the Television Academy know that the incredible performances of Milly Alcock and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen should have been recognized and rewarded.
