“Barbie” is reportedly facing serious losses from countries seeking to ban it

It is already known that some countries take the creative decision to edit posters, images and photographs of celebrities censoring what they do not think is prudent for their people, but now this would have happened with one of the most anticipated movies worldwide, Barbie, which has already premiered in the United States and is about to do so in many more countries, except some who do not want it. “Barbie” would be facing serious losses by countries seeking to ban it.

After the Government of Vietnam decided not to distribute the expected “Barbie” movie in this country, there are already other governments that have agreed with that decision and are joining the reproduction ban, while the directors and Warner Bros. have been trying to keep this from becoming a spectacle or a controversy.

The countries that have declared they do not want to reproduce this film include the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei, and the reason why they want to ban it is that there is a scene showing the so-called “line of nine dashes”, a U-shaped line representing China’s maritime claims on a map, which have been rejected by Vietnam, since it violates and partly mocks its sovereignty.

Vi Kien Thanh, who is in charge of the Film Department within the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture confirmed that: “we have not granted the license for this film to be released in Vietnam, as it contains an offensive image”.
