The famous ‘Barbie‘ movie that will reportedly be released next July 20th, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, weeks before its official release has been going through several controversies that somehow damage the work done by this production.
Since the announcement of the release of the movie of the famous Mattel doll, ‘Barbie’ has generated certain controversies since its own trailer warns: “If you love Barbie, this movie is for you. If you hate Barbie, this movie is for you“, and it seems that this is exactly what it has generated several controversies.
Among the most controversial news that have been found regarding the new film is that it will not be released in several countries, including Vietnam, apparently because the presence of the “nine-dashed line” is a representation of China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea, thus violating its sovereignty.
Another of these controversial claims is because according to Mattel’s chief operating officer, Richard Dickson, this film breaks Mattel’s values, that is, it is not in line with the ideals of the brand to which the doll belongs, since women in the audience will interpret that this is the only Barbie they should follow, and that is not what represents the company’s values.
A less controversial news, but that plays against this film, is that it directly faces the release of other great films such as “Oppenheimer“, which so far leads in its total presence in theaters according to surveys, and “Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part One“.
And finally, for now, it has been known that the film’s rating was difficult to choose at first, which makes it another negative news, however, finally it was possible to reach an agreement to have a 12A tape rating, that is, minors will not be able to attend without the company of an adult.
