Over the past few years, Amber Heard has been surrounded by several controversies due to the legal battle against Johnny Depp and his supporters even went as far as asking for her to be removed from the upcoming DC Studios film ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ where she plays Mera. However, she might have mocked his ex-husband’s fans with her latest declarations about the role.
The controversial actress recently came back to the spotlight after having moved to Spain to live a calmer life. Earlier this week, she attended the Taormina Film Festival in Italy as part of the promotional tour of her latest movie ‘In The Fire’ and opened up about her expectations regarding her role in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’:
“These are very different kinds of projects representing two very different ends of the spectrum in my industry. There’s a ton of pressure on these big franchise movies, with millions and millions of dollars at stake, and compromises are part of trying to make it the most successful thing it can be.”
On top of that, she also revealed that she feels honored to be part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and several media outlets and the online community immediately took it as a clear diss at those who were asking for her to be fired from the studio:
“The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both. Aquaman, that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored, honored to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like In The Fire, where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we got dirty together, to breathe life into this story.”
Although Amber Heard did not mention Johnny Depp or his supporters during the interview, several media outlets and the online community were quick to point out that she might have mocked her haters with her declarations as she was able to continue working as an actress while her ex-husband was fired from several studios and lost iconic roles such as Captain Jack Sparrow from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film series.
