Greta Gerwig, director of ‘Barbie’, recently revealed in an interview that she completely refused to use computer-generated imagery to change Margot Robbie’s feet in the movie. According to Great herself, she wanted ‘Barbie’ to feel as natural as possible so that is why she made that decision.
During an interview with ‘The Project’ in Australia, the 39-year-old director explained that she was against the use of CGI in the scenes where Barbie’s feet appear because Margot Robbie already has “the nicest feet and didn’t struggle to recreate the iconic doll’s perfect arches.” However, it has not been confirmed if CGI was used in other parts of the movie.
“Everyone said, ‘Are you going to CGI all the feet?’ And I thought, Oh god, no! That’s terrifying! That’s a nightmare and Margot has the nicest feet. She has these beautiful dancers’ feet. She should just hang onto that bar and do it just like this.”
In one of the trailers, Margot Robbie’s Barbie can be seen stepping into the ‘real world’ with her feet still arched as the character usually uses high heels and there are even several jokes in regards to her feet in the movie. ‘Barbie’ will open in theaters all over the world on July 20 and it is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of the year.
